St Mary’s Church Beaminster plays host to the Allington Strings in concert on 10th June 2018 at 15:00. The group is a not for profit Community String Orchestra based in Bridport which provides opportunities for musicians of all ages and a wide range of abilities to play together.
Allington Strings, under their new conductor Mark Westwood, welcome Jonathan Delbridge as piano soloist in their summer concert at St Mary’s. Jonathan will be performing Haydn’s Piano Concert no. 11 in D major and Faure’s Eclogue.
Jonathan is well known for his exciting and varied concert programmes on both the piano and organ. A versatile musician, performing major classical works, jazz standards and his own improvisations. He has performed at a wide range of venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, York Minster, Norwich Cathedral, and Plymouth University.
Mark Westwood has recently taken over as Musical Director of Allington Strings. He has chosen an interesting programme of music by twentieth century English composers to go with the Haydn Piano concerto. It includes Warlock’s Capriol Suite, Delius Late Swallows, Tavener’s Mother of God, Holst’s Brook Green Suite, and Walton’s Henry V Suite.
