Messy Church 12th May 2018

On Saturday 12th May at 4pm we will gather in St Mary’s Church, Beaminster for the latest Messy Church celebration.

The theme is God 24/7 and we will be thinking about how we are called to live as Christians all day every day.

Lots of fun and games including making bracelets, decorating biscuits, Rudi’s science experiment, Big feet walking, tea light holders and a mega prayer paper chain.

What is Messy Church?

Messy Church is for all ages – it isn’t just for children. It is also church, not just a craft club or play session. Through hands on activities and games we explore a Bible story together and what it means for us to live as Christians in the world. There are always questions and discussion points on each table for all ages to chat through and ponder. We share food together with tea at the end, we sing songs of praise, explore the bible teaching and pray together. There are always toys for preschool children too. The aim is for all the family to worship together in an accessible, engaging and challenging way.

Messy Church in the Beaminster Area Team is led and prepared by a team of volunteers supported by the clergy. It is every second Saturday of the month, with no meeting in July or August. We always promote the date through the website, Facebook, and our local primary schools. We meet at St Mary’s Church, Beaminster at 4pm.

Do come and join us, we look forward to meeting you.

Pentecost Praise Party & BBQ

The story of Pentecost describes how the Holy Spirit filled the disciples and enabled them to tell others the good news about Jesus. You can read about it in chapter two of Acts of the Apostles.  Often Pentecost is described as the birthday of the church. So we’ve decided to throw a birthday party and you’re invited.

Join us on Pentecost, Sunday 20th May between 14:00-1700 at St. Mary’s Church Beaminster for a time of celebration.

We will have games and activities to take part in, a teddy zip wire, bubbles, a bouncy castle, BBQ, craft activities, paper aeroplane competition, prayer space, and games. We will join together at 16:00 for a praise party: to hear the story of Pentecost, sing songs, pray together and light candles.

If you have the candle you were given at Baptism or Confirmation then bring it with you and light it at our Praise time to remind us that we all receive the same Holy Spirit that empowers us to live our lives as followers of Christ.

This is a free event, all are welcome. Opens at 14:00, teddy-bear zip-wire from 14:30, BBQ from 15:00, praise celebration at 16:00. The event will go ahead whatever the weather. Fun and games for all ages.
