The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 20th May 2022
I have been praying about when the right time would be to reintroduce the common cup for the receiving of the wine. As I have been going round the churches over the last few weeks I have spoken about this and asked for feedback. The responses I have received have generally been favourable with the caveat that it should be made clear that anyone who remains cautious should not feel in any way that they must do so. It is my intention to trial this at the team service for Ascension Day this coming Thursday at 7pm in Beaminster. We hope to see a good gathering from around the team at this service.
Further to my article on last week’s Hub regarding the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, there will be an organ recital at noon on Thursday 2nd June. This will be given by Carl Jackson MVO (Hampton Court). I am very grateful to Peter Nardone, the Director of Music at St Mary’s Beaminster for organising this concert and the series of concerts that will follow each Thursday through to the 28th July. There is no admission charge for any of these concerts but you may like to make a retiring donation as you leave. There will be tea and coffee available from 11.45 and you may bring your own packed lunch to enjoy during the concert.
If you are feeling up to it on Sunday 22nd May you may like to join us at Seaborough for the Rogation Walk around the village. We will take time to stop and pray as we walk. The walk will last for about 45 minutes and we have then been invited to The Old Rectory for afternoon tea and cake. We meet at 3pm at the church in Seaborough to begin the walk.
Online Worship at Home video services continue even though churches are open. The online community continues to be an important part of our church – such as our increasingly popular Gin Church. As usual each Sunday’s video service will be available on the day before. We hope you continue to enjoy our weekly Rev Chat video. And in person in Beaminster you can join us for Baby & Toddler Group on Monday mornings and our Walk In Wednesday social gathering on Wednesday mornings.
