From the Hub update Friday 5th August 2022

This week’s news is one of reminders of events across the team that are taking place and we hope to see as many of you as possible for the get togethers.

Following on from the Covid lockdowns, most of our study groups and prayer groups have started meeting again in person. I have arranged a meeting for group leaders and anyone who would be interested in forming a group to meet with myself and Jo at 7pm on Tuesday 9th August in St Mary’s Beaminster. This will give an opportunity for us all to catch up and hear what each group is doing. I would also like to explore what material we could make available in our churches for those who are visiting and considering what the Christian faith may bring to themselves.

As many of you will have heard or read, the Lambeth Conference of Bishops from across the World Wide Anglican Communion is now taking place having been postponed twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of the bishops from Sudan and South Sudan are attending, some with their wives. Rev Jane Williams, Rector of the Bride Valley is hosting Bishop Rufus who is the Assistant Bishop of Lainya of the Equatorial Province and his wife Mama Remi, from Monday 8th August until Saturday 13th and we will be hosting them in the Beaminster Team on Wednesday 10th. I will collect Bishop Rufus and Mama Remi and bring them to the midweek Eucharist and then they will stay and meet people at Walk in Wednesday and enjoy the hospitality we provide. I hope that many of you will take the opportunity to come along and meet them and to learn first hand about the life of the church and the present situation in South Sudan.

Finally, the weekly update on the £10 Talent Challenge since I updated you last week, I have received a further £136.00 in donations. This means that thanks to your outstanding generosity, the running total for the relief of hardship fund now stands at £552.85. I am still happy to receive further donations placed in an envelope marked Talent and either given to me or to Anne in the office. Once again, thank you so much.
