Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 12th August 2022

August is often thought of as a quieter month in church life. If only this was so. Across the team there are many activities going on:

  • The tower repair works in Toller Porcorum
  • Air source heat pumps and solar panels being fitted in Beaminster
  • The Netherbury late spring cleaning and church tidy up
  • Pop-up babies and toddlers group on the sports field in Beaminster
  • Summer play afternoons in Drimpton and Salway Ash
  • Produce and horticultural shows.

Walk in Wednesday has been very busy and it was lovely to welcome Bishop Rufus and his wife Joyce from Laiyna Diocese South Sudan last Wednesday.

Of course we continue to have baptisms, weddings, and funerals and all the day to day work that goes on, often unseen.

I would like to express my profound gratitude to you all for all that you do in the name of the Lord across the Team.

This week’s update on the £10 Talent Challenge. I thought that last week’s total was excellent but you continue to share your generosity with great abundance. As of today, the total that you have matched the Bishop’s £10 note with, now stands at an amazing £715 which in time will bring relief to those who will struggle with the increasing cost of living hike, especially in gas and electricity. Thank you to all who have contributed so far. If you would like to make a contribution simply place it in an envelope marked Talen’ and hand it to me or leave it with Anne in the Team Office. Once again thank you.

The diocese of Salisbury is organising a rural ministry day at Kingston Maurward on 1st October. You can book your free place online. Do come and join in and be equipped to do new things in your community.

We are thinking of organising a team social activity in the late autumn. If you are interested in being part of a team organising a tea dance on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in November then please register your interest with Jo via email –
