Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 26th August 2022

The past week has been a very important time for all those who have been awaiting the results of their exams and course work outcomes. Congratulations to each and every one. And if you were upset at the grades that you were awarded, please be encouraged by myself who only passed two subjects at exam times and they were Level 4 CSEs, but through perseverance and hard work achieved in the end. Thank you to all of the staff at the Beaminster School for their support and commitment to our children at this time.

Over the last few weeks the work to put in the air source heat pump and solar panels at Beaminster has been taking place and apart from one or two minor issues, fixing is now complete. This was a great undertaking by the PCC and in particular by Gill Perrott who led this project as an extension of the Gold Eco Church Award. Not only will this help with the heating of the church but it will also greatly reduce St Mary’s Carbon Footprint. If any of our other churches would like to know what this could mean for them please contact Gill who would be happy to advise. I extend my thanks to Gill and the ECO group for achieving this mammoth task.

Monday 29th is a Bank Holiday and these days are part of clergy holiday allowance so Fiona and myself will be off duty, however I will be on call for emergency needs.

The diocese of Salisbury is organising a rural ministry day at Kingston Maurward on 1st October. You can book your free place online. Do come and join in and be equipped to do new things in your community.

We are thinking of organising a team social activity in the late autumn. If you are interested in being part of a team organising a tea dance on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in November then please register your interest with Jo via email –
