Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 2nd September 2022

Susannah Hills, who is a member of the congregation in Beaminster, has offered to work with me in helping to develop prayer groups or prayer partnerships across the parishes of the Team. Both Sussannah and her husband Tim have many years of experience in this ministry as well as supporting new church plants in Bristol before moving to Beaminster.

Susannah has formed a Monday lunchtime prayer group which meets at 12 noon in the Hilary Chapel before going out into the community to walk and pray for the wider community. Whilst not declaring to be an expert, Sussannah would be very happy to talk with anyone who would like to develop prayer ministry elsewhere in the Team. If you would like to know more about the Monday group then why not join them on Monday?

At the recent Team Council Meeting I was asked if we could have a quiet day before Advent and if possible a Team away weekend next year. In the same way that Susannah has offered her help, Jacky Bush also has a passion for study and retreat ministry and she has agreed to help in organising these events with me. We have set the date for the pre-Advent quiet day for Saturday 19th November between 09.00 and 14.00 in Netherbury Village Hall and I am still awaiting confirmation of the leader so will give more information next week.

A reminder that next Saturday 10th September is the annual Dorset Historic Churches Trust Ride and Stride event. Please ensure that our church doors are open and that light refreshments are available for any visitors.

Please note that Elfrida is no longer in Grassington House after being admitted to Alderney Hospital in Poole. I will be able to update you on how to contact her in next week’s Hub but meanwhile please do keep her in your prayers.

The diocese of Salisbury is organising a rural ministry day at Kingston Maurward on 1st October. You can book your free place online. Do come and join in and be equipped to do new things in your community.

We are thinking of organising a team social activity in the late autumn. If you are interested in being part of a team organising a tea dance on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in November then please register your interest with Jo via email – revneary@gmail.com.
