The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 9th September 2022
Last week I wrote about the Team Quiet Day leading into the season of Advent. We have booked the Village Hall and Reading Room in Netherbury for Saturday 19th November between 9am and 2pm. Lunch will be provided. I am delighted that Rev Dr David Campbell, Lead Chaplain at Sherborne School will lead the day on the theme of ‘Watching and Waiting’. I will give further information and start taking names of those who would like to take part in the day at the beginning of October.
I received an update on Elfrida from Alison, her niece, yesterday. The hospital staff seem very kind and were indicating that Elf was a little more settled. Alison asks that for the present time we do not make contact with Elf as she has difficulty coping. Alison also asked that I pass on her thanks for the thoughts and care shown by church members for Elf.
I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity that you have all shown in supporting the Bishop’s £10 Talent challenge. At present the total that you have contributed in matching the Bishop’s £10 stands at £805.00. I am sure that your kindness will make a difference to those who will find the looming financial crisis difficult. I am still open to receiving donations and these can be left with Anne in the Team Office in an envelope marked ‘Talent’. Once again thank you for your outstanding generosity.
Finally, Jane and I will be on our summer annual leave from after services today and I will be back on duty on Tuesday 27th September. During this time Jo will take on the reins of control at the Broadwindsor bunker. See you all when we get back.
The diocese of Salisbury is organising a rural ministry day at Kingston Maurward on 1st October. You can book your free place online. Do come and join in and be equipped to do new things in your community.
We are thinking of organising a team social activity in the late autumn. If you are interested in being part of a team organising a tea dance on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in November then please register your interest with Jo via email – revneary@gmail.com.
