Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 30th September 2022

It is good to be back with you all. Jane and myself had a wonderful relaxing and restful break. This was our first visit to Turkey and we found their culture to be one of warmth (34°C most days) and welcome. Despite all the pre leave concerns over what medication Jane could take into Turkey, it proved more difficult getting it out of Britain.

I would like to thank all of my colleagues for their support whilst I was away, especially around the extra work needed to support our communities with the time of mourning the death of our late Queen and giving thanks for her life and reign.

As Jo wrote last week, the Harvest Festival season continues at a pace and whilst we will try to attend as many suppers as we can where two fall on the same day or evening this may prove, in true Vicar of Dibley style, problematic but we will try our best.

A reminder that on Sunday 2nd October at 3pm Bishop Karen will be confirming eleven candidates from across the team at Beaminster and it would be lovely to see many people joining them and their families at this service to give them support at this important step in their journey of faith.

Finally, an update on the £10 Talent challenge. Thank you to all those who left donations in the office whilst I was away. The total you have generously given to the relief of hardship fund I have set up now stands at £845.00 from the original £10 given by Bishop Stephen at his welcome service.
