Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 7th October 2022

A few weeks ago I wrote about the quiet day leading into Advent on the theme of Watching and Waiting. This will be on Saturday 19th November, Netherbury Village Hall and Reading Room, starting with Coffee and Welcome at 9am. There will be a Soup and Bread lunch provided and the day will conclude at 2.30pm. I am delighted that we will be led in our thoughts by The Rev Dr David Campbell, Lead Chaplain at Sherborne School and a great friend to the Beaminster Team. If you would like to book a place for the day please speak to myself or Mrs Jacky Bush who is helping me with coordinating the day.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Mrs Wendy Simmons last weekend. Wendy was a member of the congregation at Beaminster since moving here to live. She served on the PCC for many years and was PCC Treasurer until she stood down at this year’s Annual Meeting. She was a great help and support to myself and a wonderful friend to many through her work with the Mothers Union in Beaminster. I have passed on our condolences to Gordon. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced and I will pass these on once we have them.

I received a letter last week from Bishop Stephen inviting me to serve a second term as a member of the Cathedral’s Chapter of the College of Canons. I feel deeply humbled and privileged to have received this and I see it as an honour on behalf of all of you across the team for the wonderful work you do in the name of the Lord in this part of the kingdom.

David
