Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 3rd March 2023

Two weeks ago I included in the Hub an invitation from St John’s Roman Catholic Church to join them for a fundraising coffee and cake morning to raise funds for the DEC Turkey/Syrian Disaster Appeal. Following the event I received a further email asking me to say thank you to all those from across our churches that went along and supported them. On the day they raised £710.00 – far exceeding what they had thought would be possible. I add my thanks to all those who went along.

Thank you also to everyone who attended and raised funds for churches in Netherbury, Burstock, and Mosterton at their recent pancake events. I was able to attend both Netherbury and Mosterton events and it was lovely to meet up with and chat to so many of the communities who came along.

Just a reminder that as we fast approach the annual parochial meetings not to forget that all of the legally required notices regarding the dates and venues and the open period for applying to join the electoral roll so that you can actively join in at the meetings are put up on church notice boards and village boards.

Along with my Church Times last week was a card asking that we take part in a national Church campaign ‘Praying for Young Disciples’. We are invited to pray online every Tuesday 13:00 – 13:20 for doubling the number of children and young disciples in the Church of England by 2030. This bold outcome is at the heart of the Church of England’s Vision and Strategy, and prayer is the foundation. Please join in. For further information, go to
