Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 31st March 2023

As we enter Holy Week please join in with the times of worship and reflection which are for the whole team. You’ll find them on our Services Page.

The annual meditation/reflections will take place in Beaminster Monday to Thursday and Saturday 10am for 30 minutes, and on Good Friday they start the three hour liturgy at 12 noon. There is a short service of Holy Communion each evening at 7pm followed by the night office of Compline. On Maundy Thursday at 7pm there will be the traditional service of Holy Communion including the foot washing ceremony and stripping of the altar. This leads into the time of vigil at the
altar of repose lasting until 11pm. Please come and join us for all or a part of this vigil.

On Good Friday there are services at The Foot of The Cross in churches across the team at 10am and Good Friday Messy Church will take place
between 10am and 11am in Beaminster. Easter Day begins at 6am with the joyous Easter celebrations and lighting of the Paschal Candle, renewing of baptismal promises. Last year we had a person who asked to be baptised at the service. Please take time this Holy Week to just sit and reflect quietly on the story and events of that week as your own personal preparation for Easter Day. Our churches are open and will welcome you to just sit quietly as you do this.

Thank you to Hazel and the team at Hooke for the wonderful coffee morning at the farm last Saturday. It was wonderful to see so many people from across the team crammed into every room enjoying each other’s company and the amazing cakes that had been home baked by so many people. The staggering amount of £645 was raised for St Giles’ Church funds.

I have been asked if I could put upcoming funerals in the Hub as a few have missed recent services. Funerals next week are;
Wednesday 5th at Stoke Abbott Susan Kane 2pm
Wednesday 5th at Beaminster Michael Jupp 2pm
