Rector’s Weekly Update

It has been another strange, and at times, confusing week as we continue in this world of Lockdown. It has been lovely to speak with many of you by phone or email and I will continue to call and keep in touch over the coming days. I know that many people are saddened that we cannot meet in church but we all know that it is essential that we continue to keep our social distance and that we respect those who need to isolate themselves.

You are not alone in feeling the awkwardness of having to pray at home or alone, although we are of course always together in prayer. I find great comfort and a deep spiritual uplift in praying in our church buildings being surrounded and soaked in the prayer of centuries of people who have laid their prayers down in these places. But I am sure that the question we are going to have to think about at the end of these times is ‘how has the church been changed for the future?’

Jo will add details below of how you can join in worship for Easter. I am sorry that some are having difficulty finding the website. The common groan is that ‘we did not know’, so please pass on this update and ask others to do so. We are very aware of those who do not have a computer or phone and so are missing out, but unfortunately, I am unable to come up with a logistical solution to reaching everyone right now.

Jo will be on leave next week so please direct all queries and questions that you may have for her to me.

Every blessing to you all for a very happy Easter.

David

Our Holy Week meditations continue through to Holy Saturday and we are also sharing Compline at 8pm every day in Holy Week. All details on the website.

Worship at Home for Easter Day includes a pre -recorded service of the word and suggestions for other resources. The video is not yet recorded but will be there by Saturday.

Easter Sunday at 6am we will live stream on Facebook a short Easter Vigil including lighting the Easter candle, the Exultet and the Easter Gospel. Join us at 6am on the Beaminster Team Facebook Page  You don’t need to be signed up to Facebook.

Everything you need to join in worship can be found on this website. If you know of church goers who can’t access this why not give them a phone call and share something with them. Or point them towards worship on the radio or television.
