Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub Covid-19 update 8th January, 2021

I would like to start by thanking you all for your rapid responses to my consultation on church services during this lockdown. The problem with consultation is that you do not always get the response that you believe makes sense. Ten churches have agreed to suspend worship with three wishing to continue and one undecided. I will be having further conversations once I have received the update which is expected from the National Church later today.

Whilst I recognise that for some the need to worship in a gathered environment blinkers them to the danger they place themselves and others in, I have to work out whether the risk is sensible and acceptable. I am responsible for ensuring that all Covid safety guidelines are adhered to and what I witness across our churches is that for some this is difficult and it is becoming tiring being the Covid enforcer.

For the foreseeable future the principal service for the team will be online and if you need help or advice on how you access this please get in touch and I will do my best to help you. Fiona is also continuing to produce the weekly prayer at home sheet. Please help by distributing this to those who cannot do online worship. I must restress the present government guidelines that you should only leave home if it is essential to do so. The new Covid-19 variant is spreading fast, even across Dorset. It is putting people at risk and renewed pressure on all those working in our NHS.

Below I attach a note from Fiona regarding restarting the Tuesday Lunchtime Bible Study.

I will be in touch again once I have received the national guidance.

Lunchtime Bible Study

Day and Time: Starting Tuesday 12th January, 12 noon to 12 45.

This is a very informal get together on Zoom, with those who would like to catch up with a coffee, and spend some time in a bible passage, exploring its meaning. Then we will finish with prayer.

If you would like to join me, please use the link below.

Looking forward to seeing you,
