From the Hub Covid-19 update 22nd January, 2021
Another week passes and it is sad to see the number of new cases and deaths continuing to rise in West Dorset. I was saddened to receive an email earlier this week quoting the government guidelines (as if I haven’t read them a thousand times over) stating that places of worship can remain open and that we should be doing so. The writer does not appear to have read the advice from the House of Bishops that we should avoid encouraging breaches of the guidelines in leaving home for non essential purposes. Whilst we enjoy gathering together, I still believe that at this time of national pandemic and rising cases it is essential to protect each other. Therefore we should continue to pray at home, rather than to gather in church where congregations find it difficult to adhere to the guidelines on social distancing.
Below I include the Zoom links for the online Sunday Service and the Zoom Sunday Evening Prayers and we would be delighted if you joined us at these times of worship. As Fiona is on a training course this coming Tuesday, there will be no Tuesday Lunchtime Fellowship this week.
As we approach Lent, we will be using the book Celtic Lent – 40 Days of Devotions to Easter by David Coles. To order a copy please email Anne at beaminsterteam@gmail.com no later than 1st February. We will use this for study on Zoom and I will give more information once I have discussed this at the staff meeting next month. I have also ordered copies of the Church of England’s lent reflections #LIVE LENT. This booklet includes a short bible passage, a reflection, and a prayer. You can also download the free app to your phone or device. If you would like a copy please contact me and I will ensure we get it to you.
