Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub Covid-19 update 12th February 2021

I would like to begin this week with a number of thank yous. I am sure that you would like to join me in saying a huge thank you to our magnificent medical practices in Bridport, Beaminster, and Maiden Newton for their outstanding commitment to roll out the vaccine jabs to those in most need. This week alone they have given over two and a half thousand doses and I read that there will be a further one thousand seven hundred administered again tomorrow. On behalf of everyone across our communities I thank you all – both healthcare professionals and the many local volunteers who take part.

Can I remind everyone that all of our churches are open daily, or will be opened for either private prayer or as a place of quiet and sanctuary, especially for all of our frontline workers and volunteers who need a place to get away to when the going is so tough and places a strain on you all. We hold you all in prayers daily and thank God for all that you are doing for us all.

Earlier this week I received the end of year update on parish share payment and I would like to thank all of our treasurers for the magnificent effort in paying 96.7% of that requested from the team churches for 2020. When we consider the difficult year and lack of opportunity for fundraising that is extraordinary, thank you and a further thank you to all those who give through our planned giving schemes for maintaining your giving throughout this time. A final financial thank you to those treasurers who have made payments towards this year’s share, across the deanery – the Beaminster Team leads the way.

Ash Wednesday is this coming Wednesday and begins our season of Lent. To mark this day the staff have recorded a time of prayer and reflection and this will be available for you to join in with on our usual online channels of YouTube and Facebook. At 5.30pm on Ash Wednesday Bishop Nicholas will be leading worship and preaching at a live broadcast service from Salisbury Cathedral. If you would like to share in this go to YouTube and search for Salisbury Cathedral Live Streaming Service.

We continue our other weekly services, prayers and bible study and I have included the links below.

Finally, I thank you all for your continued help and support.
