From the Hub Covid-19 update 5th March 2021
I would like to begin this week by thanking those who have responded to my request for conversations regarding returning to public worship for Easter. I am still waiting to hear from a few parishes and would be pleased if you could let me know by this Monday as I have to prepare the rota and articles for the Team News deadline.
We’re planning similar Holy Week reflections to those we’ve posted in previous years. These will be available online. They can be emailed out and we can provide for those who do not have either of these facilities. We will share Night Prayer (Compline) each evening at 8pm via Zoom. We would also like to ask each Church to place an Easter Garden in their churchyards that can be a focal point in each community and a quiet place for people to sit and reflect. You may also consider placing a cross, especially for Good Friday. If you would like some help with these ideas please contact Fiona who will be coordinating this across the team. It would be welcoming if all our churches could be open each day during Holy Week to allow for private prayer and especially on Good Friday. Fiona will advise on how you could provide prayer stations using the prepared reflections from the staff team. We will be continuing to provide the online weekly worship and you may like to take part in the Maundy Thursday livestream service from Salisbury Cathedral. I will provide more information on all of these ways of keeping a good Holy Week over the next couple of weeks.
The annual Statistics for Mission figures are now required. I am not informed who has been asked to complete these within each parish and only become aware when I received a curt email to say they have not been filed. If you have completed the form for your parish, please could you let me know so that I can start working with those who have not done so. I am also happy to advise on answering some of the new questions that appear this year regarding online worship which we provide for the whole team so should be answered accordingly.
