Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub Covid-19 update 26th March 2021

Thank you to the three parishes so far who have sent me the updated risk assessments ready for reopening churches for public worship. As these are a requirement under the Government’s Covid Safety guidelines I would be grateful if I could receive those that are outstanding asap. Thank you also to those parishes that have responded to Fiona’s initiative to create outdoor spaces for prayer and reflection during Holy Week and Easter. I will do my best to get round them all whilst they are in place, Fiona is still happy to advise if you would like to know more so please contact her.

There will be services for Palm Sunday at Beaminster at 8am and 9.30am; and Blackdown at 4pm, which will include the Liturgy of the Palms and the Passion Narrative in place of an address. The weekly online service and the Prayers for Sunday Evening continue as usual. Please note a change of time for this week’s Coffee Morning.

Each evening during Holy Week there will be Compline (Night Prayer) via Zoom at 8pm. and the links for these are at the bottom of the page. On Maundy Thursday at 11am you may like to follow the live streamed Chrism Mass led for the last time by Bishop Nicholas in Salisbury Cathedral. To join this, go to the Salisbury Cathedral YouTube channel.

There will be a celebration of the Last Supper at 6pm at Beaminster. On Good Friday Drimpton will be holding its annual Procession of Witness beginning at Netherhay Chapel at 10am. Stoke Abbott is using the Bach Passion on Video in church as its Good Friday worship, for information contact David French on 868241.

At Beaminster the last hour at the foot of the cross beginning at 2pm will include time to share with our Lord in prayer, scripture, and music. The daily Holy Week reflections will appear on the website each day from Monday, I suggest that you spend 30 minutes in prayer with them each day.

It would be remiss of me not to herald Rev Neary’s return this weekend. Just like the rest of us, she has spent a lot of time locked behind closed doors for fear of the virus during her sabbatical. As she journeys around the churches over the next few weeks please do engage with her about the benefits of being able to take extended time out to study, read, and to recharge her batteries and wellbeing.

I pray that you will keep a blessed and Holy Week.

David
