The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub Covid-19 update 1st April 2021
As we enter the most holy three days of the Christian year – Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Eve – I hope that you will be able to take time each day to be quiet and reflect on Christ in his passion. You can join us in worship at Beaminster this evening at 6pm to remember Jesus sharing his last meal with his friends and disciples. And at 2pm tomorrow for the last hour at the foot of the cross. Also tomorrow there will be the procession of witnesses at 10am beginning at Netherhay Chapel in Drimpton. Continuing online at 8pm each evening is Compline.
I have recorded a time of prayer and reflection for Good Friday and this will be available on our YouTube channel and this website from 10am on Good Friday. The weekly Sunday online worship continues with Bishop Andrew Rumsey Bishop of Ramsbury giving the address. If you like an early start to Easter Day, then join us at Beaminster at 6am for the service of lighting the Paschal candle. The series of prayers for Sunday evening on Zoom concludes this week and I thank all of those who joined us to explore our Easter book over the past seven weeks.
Thank you for sending me your updated risk assessments. I am grateful to you all for all the work that you have put into overseeing the churches during this lockdown period and in preparing for the reopening of the buildings for the recommencement of public worship. I continue to hold you all in prayer as we step out in faith and trust and hope that we will not have to face a similar situation again. May I remind those churches with services on Sunday that you need to provide your own communion wafers, wine, and all other items needed for the Eucharist.
As we begin to worship together again I would welcome your thoughts on whether we continue this weekly update or communicate in some other form. In combination with phone calls to church wardens, I have found it a very useful way of passing on information, gaining your thoughts and comments and generally keeping in touch. If we are to revert to a Pew News that would be collected from Beaminster each week, we would need to know how many copies each church would require.
As I will be on leave from this coming Thursday for a week there will be no updates during that time. Jo will of course be overseeing things and available to you if you need help or advice. As you will have read on these updates, there is always something going on in Toller P and I wish them well in their latest adventure this Sunday, The Toller Takeaway Easter Dinner.
With my best wishes for a very Happy and Blessed Easter to you all.
David
