Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update 21st May 2021

I would like to thank everyone who has supported Christian Aid Week across the Team. As of writing Judith has banked two thousand pounds from Beaminster and is awaiting the collections from across the villages. If you have not yet been able to make a donation and would like to then please do so by posting it through the Team Office door in an envelope that clearly identifies it for Christian Aid or similarly place it on the plate in church on Sunday.

We have received the latest Covid safety regulations as they apply to churches. There is very little change to note at this time. The number allowed at funerals is the biggest change. The number allowed to attend funerals is now dictated by how many people each church building can safely seat within the Covid safe two-metre guidelines. Masks must continue to be worn and gathering is discouraged.

Refreshments can be served after Sunday services as long as you provide cafe style service, where people are served drinks at their seats and there is no mingling. No more than 30 can be in the building at any time whilst having refreshments and social distancing must be maintained.

There is still no congregational singing allowed but choirs can sing with a maximum of six voices. However, there are strict guidelines that each singer must be two metres away from another, not be facing each other and must be a minimum of two metres from the worship leader and front row of the congregation.

There is only one annual meeting to go at Beaminster on Tuesday 25th May at 2pm. Please could PCC secretaries let Anne know of any changes to office holders and any new members elected to PCC’s including their addresses, phone contact details and email addresses.

Don’t forget that it is still not too late to join Fiona at The Bible Course on Tuesdays. Please contact her for further details.

Online Worship at Home video services continue even though churches are open. The online community continues to be an important part of our church. As usual each Sunday’s video service will be available on the day before.

There is an interesting webinar being put on by the diocese on Wednesday evening, 26 May at 7.30pm about Being followers of Christ in our everyday lives. It would be of interest to anyone in our church communities.

The wind is howling and I’m wearing my cosy winter jumper. I have it on good authority from a farmer’s son that summer will be here next week.

And finally to end with a quote from St Augustine “No dove, no church” Enjoy a happy and blessed Pentecost and may our lives and God’s church be filled with the energy, love and excitement of the Holy Spirit.

Every blessing
Jo
