Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update 17th September 2021

I would like to thank all those – both younger and older – who took part in this year’s Dorset Historic Churches Trust Ride & Stride event last Saturday. Whether you cycled around every church in the team, walked between two or three churches or anything in between, thank you. All the money raised is shared between the Trust and the parish that it was raised for.

Thank you to everyone in Hooke for all your hard work in organising Saturday’s Harvest BBQ. I am sure a good time will be had by all.

Following a successful and fruitful evening last week with the LPAs, LWLs, and House Group Leaders as part of the follow up to the Church 2030 conversations, the next follow up session will be an evening to encourage you all to think about and explore what your vocation/calling may be and how you you can answer that call from God. This will take place on Monday 18th October in St Mary’s Beaminster at 7pm. Jo will write more on this in next week’s Hub space.

I have received a thought provoking Health and Safety report (attached below) from Neville Adams, our Team H&S link. It concerns our responsibility and H&S requirements to volunteers undertaking work on our behalf and especially the training they may need to be given and the risk assessments we should be undertaking. I have asked Anne to attach the email to this week’s PN circulation. I will be discussing this more fully with Neville and considering what actions we should take. We can then discuss the matter further at the next round of PCC meetings and consider if any required actions can be undertaken at a team level.

Jane and myself will be away on our annual holiday from tomorrow lunchtime and I will return to work on Wednesday 6th October. In my absence please contact Jo.

A reminder that the baby and toddler group is back on Mondays through September, you can find more details and book your free ticket on this page.

Online Worship at Home video services continue even though churches are open. The online community continues to be an important part of our church. As usual each Sunday’s video service will be available on the day before. We hope you continue to enjoy our weekly Rev Chat video.
