Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update 24th September 2021

What a wonderful time we had in Beaminster last Saturday at the Big Green Day. It was great to see so many people exploring how we can change our lifestyles to alleviate the climate emergency. Thank you to Gill Perrott and all church members who worked so hard to make the event happen.

Our diocesan Generous Giving campaign continues and week three focuses on us giving thanks for all God has given us. You might like to try some of the suggestions on the Generous Giving leaflet. I particularly like the idea of a gratitude jar. Write down something everyday you are grateful for, pop it in a jar and at the end of the week read them all and give thanks to God.

Life feels so much more like normal now and it has been a joy to be back in our primary schools for collective worship. This week we have hosted toddlers on Monday, Walk in Wednesday, and Messy Church. The latter is back for a new term on the fourth Saturday of every month. Details about all these events can be found on this page.

On Monday 18th October at 7pm we will be hosting a vocation evening in St Mary’s Church Beaminster. Diocese of Salisbury vocation coordinator Claire Horton will be joining us. The event is a chance for us all to worship together, to hear about all the different opportunities to serve that we have in the Beaminster Team, and to consider our own gifts and what God might be calling us to. This is an evening for everyone: if you are thinking about serving your community and perhaps becoming involved in new ministries it will give you a chance to think, pray and explore the options. Attending the evening does not commit you to anything. But don’t be surprised if God challenges you to explore something new.

It is with sadness we announce the death of Canon Gregory Page-Turner, who was well known to many of you. Please hold him and his family in your prayers. Funeral arrangements are to follow in the next few weeks. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

A reminder that the baby and toddler group is back on Mondays through September, you can find more details and book your free ticket on this page.

Online Worship at Home video services continue even though churches are open. The online community continues to be an important part of our church. As usual each Sunday’s video service will be available on the day before. We hope you continue to enjoy our weekly Rev Chat video.
