The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update 8th October 2021
On Monday 18th October at 7pm we will be hosting a vocation evening in St Mary’s Church Beaminster. Diocese of Salisbury vocation coordinator Claire Horton will be joining us. The event is a chance for us all to worship together, to hear about all the different opportunities to serve that we have in the Beaminster Team, and to consider our own gifts and what God might be calling us to. This is an evening for everyone: if you are thinking about serving your community and perhaps becoming involved in new ministries it will give you a chance to think, pray and explore the options. Attending the evening does not commit you to anything. But don’t be surprised if God challenges you to explore something new. Please do come and join this evening and discover how you may be able to support the ministry that we can offer across the team.
A gentle reminder that during October and November we will be hosting a six week discussion course on the Church of England report, Living in Love and Faith – which explores Christian teaching and learning about identity, sexuality, relationships, and marriage. This is a chance to engage, listen, and to reflect theologically on the issues. We will meet on a Tuesday evening in St Mary’s Beaminster from 7-8.30pm, beginning on Tuesday 19th October and ending on Tuesday 23rd November.
The course materials take five weeks to complete. On the sixth week, 23rd November, we will be joined by Archdeacon of Sarum The Venerable Alan Jeans. Alan is the diocesan advocate for LLF and will host a question and answer session to complete our time together. All are welcome to attend, to listen, and to participate. It is useful to attend all six sessions if possible. Pastoral support will be available as we discuss a subject that can be personally challenging. You can book your free place via Eventbrite or by phoning the me on 01308 862150. You can order the printed course materials online, download them for free from the Church of England website, or order a copy via me or the team office (beaminsterteam@gmail.com). The course printed materials cost £5. See the team website for more information.
The funeral of Fr Gregory Page Turner will take place on Thursday 28th of October. There will be a private family burial in Loaders Churchyard that morning followed by a Thanksgiving Requiem Mass at 2pm in Beaminster to which all are invited. Gregory will lie in Loaders church on Wednesday evening and I understand that anyone who wishes to pay their respects may do so between 7-8pm.
A reminder that the baby and toddler group is back on Mondays through October, you can find more details and book your free ticket on this page.
Online Worship at Home video services continue even though churches are open. The online community continues to be an important part of our church. As usual each Sunday’s video service will be available on the day before. We hope you continue to enjoy our weekly Rev Chat video.
Every Blessing, Jo
