The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update 3rd December 2021
Yesterday we were sent a twelve page update on the latest Covid-19 guidance by The Bishop of London on behalf of the National Church. If you would like to read through it for yourselves you can find it on the Diocesan website.
Much of what it says is what you will have heard and read in the news. Firstly, it is guidance and not legally binding and relies on personal responsibility, or in the case of the local church, a sense of corporate responsibility.
The main points I feel are that we should strongly encourage the use of hand sanitisation on entering our buildings and that we should see as an essential part of our gathering in larger numbers, the wearing of face coverings. Where possible and practical, continue to maintain a one or two metre distance.
As far as I can see, nothing is banned but the guidance talks about the need for each community to make an assessment of risk and safety based on the local situation and I will continue to be available to work with individual churches on their risk assessments as the final decision on any decisions made rests solely with the incumbent (alas, me).
There is however one area of legal compulsion. If you are organising an event that constituents becoming a’ venue of sales’ i.e. a Christmas fair or bazaar, then the wearing of face coverings will be required at all times. Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Jo for points of clarification.
This Friday 10th December Mosterton is holding a Christmas Coffee Morning in church between 10.00 am and 12 noon. Also watch out for the Advent window displays in some of our villages.
Online Worship at Home video services continue even though churches are open. The online community continues to be an important part of our church. As usual each Sunday’s video service will be available on the day before. We hope you continue to enjoy our weekly Rev Chat video.
