Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update January 14th 2022

After eight years as Treasurer for Beaminster PCC, Wendy Simmons is standing down. I am very grateful for her dedication to this role. We are in the process of finding a replacement and some of the roles she undertakes have been shared amongst the members of the finance committee. However we do need some help and support between now and the APCM with record and bookkeeping. If you feel that you could help please speak to either Churchwarden Judith Hanson or myself. Thank you.

With the above in mind we are approaching the APCM season beginning in mid March. Can I remind PCC Secretaries to check the dates that Calling notices and notices of elections are required to be publicly displayed. These are required by Act of Parliament under The Church Representation Rules and failure to display them accordingly can lead to us being challenged. This was the case in one parish two years ago. If you require help with the forms please contact Anne in the Team Office.

This Tuesday the Archdeacon of Sherborne will be coming to a public meeting in the Village Hall in Drimpton to meet with the parishioners to talk through how the church can be upheld. We have failed to elect officers and PCC members for the past two years and the burden has fallen completely on Neville Adams and Norman Marsden, to whom I am extremely grateful. Please come along and join in the conversations.

Online Worship at Home video services continue even though churches are open. The online community continues to be an important part of our church – such as Thursday Evening Prayers and our increasingly popular Gin Church. As usual each Sunday’s video service will be available on the day before. We hope you continue to enjoy our weekly Rev Chat video. And in person in Beaminster you can join us for Baby & Toddler Group on Monday mornings and our Walk In Wednesday social gathering on Wednesday mornings.

David
