Rector’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update February 18th 2022

As I write this, we have just come through the high winds of Storm Dudley and hopefully will come safely through the forecasted high winds of Storm Eunice. I hope that no damage has been done to any of the buildings.

This reminds me that, with the Annual Meetings coming up soon, it is time for the inventories to be checked and brought up to date so that they can be presented for signing at the meetings. Also the log books recording any works that have been undertaken on or in the churches need to be checked and completed. If any help or advice is needed please do get in touch.

This also reminds me that I must get on with writing the annual Clergy report. There are quite a number of projects being planned across our churches at the moment. Many of these will require faculty applications. Some churches struggle with this process whilst others are becoming experts. I have often raised the point that this could be a shared exercise. Whilst each project team would have to prepare the information required, loading it onto the DAC site could be a task that some one feels called to do as part of their ministry to the church. I would be happy to have conversations with anyone who feels that they could help.

As part of Fairtrade fortnight beginning on the 21st of this month, there will be a Fairtrade Coffee Morning on Saturday 26th in the Strode Room from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon. There will be an opportunity to learn more about the Fairtrade organisation as well as the chance to purchase Fairtrade goods.

Online Worship at Home video services continue even though churches are open. The online community continues to be an important part of our church – such as Thursday Evening Prayers and our increasingly popular Gin Church. As usual each Sunday’s video service will be available on the day before. We hope you continue to enjoy our weekly Rev Chat video. And in person in Beaminster you can join us for Baby & Toddler Group on Monday mornings and our Walk In Wednesday social gathering on Wednesday mornings.
