Team Vicar’s Weekly Update

The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 16th September 2022

The team service of thanksgiving and commemoration for the life of the Queen takes place on Saturday 17th September at 2pm in Beaminster. Thank you to the schools for contributing work for the display. Thank you also to bell ringers both at St Mary’s Beaminster and across the team for ringing so wonderfully over the past week. We continue to pray for our new King and the royal family, for the funeral on Monday, and for all who mourn.

Harvest is upon us with Burstock beginning the season last week and continuing with its lunch on Sunday 18th in Comrades Hall. I think Mapperton will conclude the Harvest season on Sunday 22nd October – which makes six weeks and seven Sundays worth of celebrating. Do join in with events all over the team – check Team News for details. Of course, with such a dry summer many harvests were complete in August. We do continue to pray for our farming communities and the challenges they face, not least with increasing fuel bills.

There is still time to book into the Rural Day at Kingston Maurward on Saturday 1st October. It is a chance to celebrate rural ministry and pick up tips from practitioners across the diocese. Other dates for your diary include the Team Memorial service at 4pm on 30th October and the Team Advent Quiet Day on Saturday 19th November.

On Sunday 2nd October we celebrate a team confirmation service with eleven candidates including young people, teenagers and an adult. Join us and the Bishop of Sherborne at 3pm in St Mary’s Church Beaminster.

Every blessing, Jo
