The Beaminster Area Team
From the Hub update Friday 6th January 2023
Wishing you all a very happy new year and blessings for the year ahead.
I hope you had a good Christmas and were able to catch up with family and friends. I know many people have been ill over the festive time, so we hope and pray that you are recovering now. Many thanks to all in our team who prepared churches, sang, cleaned, arranged flowers, gritted paths, displayed cribs, welcomed congregations, led intercessions, read, hoovered, picked up glitter, folded up costumes, put up sound systems, made Christingles, served refreshments, wrote Advent reflections and generally contributed to the joy and chaos of Christmas celebrations across the team. Numbers felt strong in many services so it was very encouraging. It might be worth spending a moment reflecting in each parish about how services went and what we might want to change or adjust next year.
Epiphany celebrations continue until Candlemas on 2nd February and it is customary to leave crib sets and Nativity scenes up until then. Our online worship continues and it has been gratifying to meet some of our online community over Christmas either via email or via conversations at services or social events.
If you are interested in becoming part of the Messy Church team then may I invite you to tea, cake and a chat at 4pm on Saturday 14th January in St Mary’s Church Beaminster. We always welcome new team members.
We are also thinking about plans for Lent and perhaps creating some Lent workshops for people to join in with to help people deepen faith and explore aspects of spirituality. Suggestions so far include something on prayer, something musical, something outdoor and perhaps something craft themed. If you have any ideas of events to contribute to a team offer for Lent then do please get in touch with me.
With every blessing, Jo.
