Come and join us for a cuppa and a chat, every Wednesday at St Mary’s Church Beaminster.
Following the government guidelines we will be shutting Walk in Wednesday for the foreseeable future. This seems the best way to keep people safe. Please let people know who aren’t on Facebook. If people are feeling worried or concerned then please do get in touch – we can help support you on the phone, via email, through our online activities. Expect to see lots of online activity from the church in the next few weeks.
We will miss seeing you every Wednesday – but don’t worry, we will be back as soon as it is safe to do so.
Every Wednesday St Mary’s Church Beaminster plays host to an event we call Walk In Wednesday. The church is open all day for our local community to join in a variety of activities.
There’s a communion service at 10:00 in a side chapel for those who enjoy traditional worship and all are welcome. Meanwhile other activities carry on around the larger church space.
We’ve turned the blue carpet area into a play space for pre-schoolers. There’s plenty of space to park your buggy inside and there are also plenty of willing grannies to help out. There plenty of toys to keep the little ones occupied.
Coffee, tea and cake is available all day, with a simple soup served at 12:30.
There’s a folk music group where you can join in, bring your own instrument or borrow one of ours. There are recorder lessons in the afternoon.
Join in on the knit and natter table, where volunteers kindle knit blankets for a maternity hospital in South Africa, supporting the Hug A Baby charity.
We’ve a book exchange. Bring your old books for others to read and find something new to enjoy.
There’s an art table where you can try painting or drawing.
We’re open every Wednesday of the year apart from two weeks over Christmas and during the June music festival. You’ll find a busier space in the morning and a quieter venue in the afternoon.
So please do come along. It’s a chance to find a new hobby, make new friends or volunteer to help your community.
