Advent Reflection – Day 24

An Advent Reflection by Revd Canon David Baldwin, Team Rector, The Beaminster Area Team.

Read

Luke 2:19 But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.

Reflect

When Alice, my first daughter was born, I pondered deeply, through daytime and night time feeds, watching her sleep or waiting for her to awaken. I thought about the world she would grow up into, the person she would become, and what really mattered to me. But most of all, I enjoyed those times. With hindsight I can say I felt closer to the mystery of God, holding this little child, than I had ever come in long years of studying and trying to work things out.

Pray

Lord, may I find a way today to make it a little easier for someone close to me to take a rest? And then, Lord, may I rest too? Amen.

Act

Take some quality time today just to ‘be’. Spend time to watch, gaze and ponder and don’t forget to open your Advent Calendar.
