Baptism

Thank you for thinking about baptism either for yourself or your child. We look forward to helping you prepare for baptism and accompanying you on your journey of faith.

For enquiries about baptism please contact the Team Vicar, Rev Jo Neary in the first instance.

After your initial contact you will be sent a letter and a form to complete. This form provides us with your details, provisional dates and godparents’ details. Godparents must be already baptised.

Once we have received your form we will arrange to come and meet you at home to prepare you for the promises and commitments you will be making through baptism. Once we have completed this preparation we will be able to confirm a baptism date.

If you live in any of the parishes of the Beaminster Area Team you will be invited to attend worship in any of our churches. Or come to Messy Church in Beaminster or drop in to Walk in Wednesday, also at St Mary’s Beaminster. This is a chance for you to meet us and the worshipping community which you will be joining.

If you are a regular member of any or our worshipping communities, including Messy Church, we can arrange for the baptism to take place during a regular service. We find that many of our baptism families who don’t regularly come to worship prefer a shorter service which we can offer at 12.30pm on a Sunday. We do not offer baptism during Lent or Advent.

If you live outside the parishes of the Beaminster Area Team we are still happy to help you seek baptism, but we ask that baptism preparation is undertaken in the parish where you live. We can only arrange baptism once we have heard from your local parish priest and the appropriate preparation has taken place.
