Good News: At last we were able to hold Messy Church in person rather than on zoom. The story was the parable of the mustard seed from Mark’s Gospel and it took place in the churchyard with activities centred on wildlife, flowers, birds, trees, and God’s love embracing all, for us to share with family friends, and community.
A highlight was using coloured chalk to illustrate this on the paving stones outside the church porch. Another piece of good news is the development of Beaminster ECO Network which will be promoting projects to combat climate change, loss of biodiversity, and care for the environment. The hope is to engage the people of Beaminster in this campaign for a green resilient town. We plan to launch this during The Great Big Green Week 18th to 26th September, which is a national initiative and will be the largest event for climate and nature ever seen in the UK. Watch out for posters etc.
Many are disappointed that the Terracycle box for recycling empty medicine blister packet disappeared from our pharmacy when it was remodelled recently. We are hopeful that it may resume but in the meantime take them to Superdrug either in Yeovil or Dorchester as they have collection boxes or put them, bagged, in our black recycling bin by the ECO board in Church and they will be taken to Superdrug.
- Protect the environment:- When out walking take your litter home
- Always keep dogs under control and in sight
- Dog poo – bag it and bin it
- Care for nature – do not cause damage or disturbance
