Eco Church May Update

May is month when we focus on global justice. Soaring costs are affecting people here and around the world.

Christian Aid Week is 14th to 20th May this year and focusing on Pigeonpea production in Malawi, which recently suffered a devastating cyclone. Pigeonpeas are multi-coloured and the sixth most important legume crop in the world. The shrub is perennial and enhances soil fertility as well as providing flour to make bread and producing animal fodder. Very importantly it is drought resistant so one answer to climate change, which is affecting Malawi badly.

You will get a chance during this week to contribute to this cause and so play your part in global justice. Residents of Beaminster will receive a Christian Aid envelope through their post box. You can take your gift in this this to the Church Office.

There is an Organ Recital in 12 noon on Thursday 18th May to raise funds for Christian Aid and on Saturday 20th
May collection tins will be out in the Square.

May is also designated as National Walking Month. Enjoy finding new walks around Beaminster as well as the old favourites. Take a note of wildflowers you see and any wildlife. Enjoy the bluebells in Edmundcombe.
