Eco Church November 2020

The village churches and church schools gave generously to the Food Bank in October for Harvest. Some also gave funds to twin taps and toilets to those countries which have none.

Stalwart people turned out on 3rd October in the pouring rain to litter pick; others did their collecting during the week. Many thanks to all who helped.

Recent TV programmes on habitat loss causing extinction of species, have brought the problem of Climate Change home to us all.

Government policy for farms, food, and wildlife as we leave the EU, is to support farmers to look after the countryside for nature and people.  There will be big changes for many, whatever happens. We need new farming methods, which combine food production with a radical restoration of our nature.

Beaminster Church ECO Group has joined with Beaminster Area ECO Group, Bridport Transition Town, Turn Lyme Green, and Friends of the Earth under the name; West Dorset Environment Alliance (WDEA) to share information, ideas and to meet quarterly with Chris Loder MP to seek his help on issues that matter to us.

We are undertaking an energy audit of our church & continue to work on reducing our carbon footprint.

EcoTip – Greening your home this Winter
Tackle climate change by reducing energy use. Check out the Government Green Homes Grant for help.

Check for draughts and fill the gaps. Stick tinfoil or radiator panels between the wall and radiator, as these will help reflect heat back into your room during the colder months.
