Worship at Home – Sunday 18th October 2020

We are not all able to gather physically to worship today. However, we remember that although we may be apart, we can still worship together. Here are some resources and suggestions to help you worship at home and join together as the body of Christ. Thank you to all our contributors.

You can download the order of service if you would like to follow along with the video service above.

Collect for St Luke

Almighty God,
you called Luke the physician,
whose praise is in the gospel,
to be an evangelist and physician of the soul:
by the grace of the Spirit
and through the wholesome medicine of the gospel,
give your Church the same love and power to heal;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Music

Our hymn today, O For a Thousand Tongues , was recorded by the musicians of St Martin in the Fields.

The voluntary was recorded by the Director of Music at St Mary’s Beaminster, Martin Schellenberg. It was recorded on the organ St Mary’s Beaminster.

Berceuse
Toccata in F

Martin writes: “The first piece is the hauntingly beautiful Berceuse by Louis Vierne. He was the celebrated blind organist of Notre Dame and this composition comes from his 24 pieces in a Free Style. The ‘Toccata in F by D. Buxtehude is a firm favourite in the organ repertoire and is a wonderful combination of scalic and choral passages for hands whilst the feet keep it all grounded. ”
