Worship at Home Sunday 27th September 2020

We are not all able to gather physically to worship today. However, we remember that although we may be apart, we can still worship together. Here are some resources and suggestions to help you worship at home and join together as the body of Christ. Thank you to all our contributors.

You can download the order of service if you would like to follow along with the video service above.

Collect for the 16th Sunday after Trinity

O Lord, we beseech you mercifully to hear the prayers of your people who call upon you;
and grant that they may both perceive and know what things they ought to do,
and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfil them;
through Jesus Christ your Son
our Lord, who is alive and reigns with
you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

Music

Our hymn today, Glorious things of thee are spoken , was recorded by the musicians of St Martin in the Fields.

The voluntary was recorded by the Director of Music at St Mary’s Beaminster, Martin Schellenberg. It was recorded on the organ St Mary’s Beaminster.

Cantilene
Prelude to the Te Deum

Martin writes: “The two organ pieces this week are as follows. Quiet and reflective – Cantilene by Malcolm Archer is a gentle piece from this illustrious composer who has held positions in Norwich, Bristol, Wells, and St Pauls Cathedrals. Big and bold – The spritely Prelude to the Te Deum by M.A. Charpentier (17th century French composer) needs no instruction, especially if you are a supporter of the Eurovision Song Contest.
