We need to reinvigorate the prayer life of our team, and this is a focus in our five-year mission plan. In the past we have met monthly and even weekly to pray for new things in our Team. This has stopped and nothing has sprung up to replace it. We strongly believe that mission begins in prayer, discerning the activity of God in our communities. We have chosen Advent as a way of bringing us together to pray. Throughout Advent we will hold a weekly prayer event to pray for the team, and we will issue a prayer diary for the needs of the world.
Our Advent prayer focus will launch at the Advent Carol service at 18:00 on Sunday 29 November in St Mary’s Beaminster where each church will receive a special prayer candle for their Advent wreath. Pop the date in your diary along with the Advent Quiet Day on Saturday 28 November in Netherbury Village Hall, 09:30 for 10:00 ending with lunch, led by the Bishop of Sherborne.
The other activities are:
- A service of Darkness to Light Tues 8 Dec 19:00 St Mary’s Beaminster
- Carols and Prayers Sat 19 Dec 10:30 Beaminster Square
- Online Compline Tues 22 Dec 20:00 via Zoom
- Prayer Diary to come soon
