Community Outreach Roundup

As we approach the end of April, it’s a good opportunity to reflect on the past four months and look ahead to what’s coming for the Outreach project.

My work with the four primary schools is ongoing. Family support has now been rolled out, and we are continuing to build on the trust and relationships already established in order to expand our family outreach offer. As a team, we have also delivered two highly successful Experience days at Broadwindsor and Salway Ash primary schools. These events brought the entire school into the church to discover the Easter story in an interactive way. Feedback has been very positive, and we are now exploring ways to grow this offer and introduce new Experience themes.

Alongside this, much has been happening behind the scenes, including planning new events and carrying out consultations and feedback research to better understand our reach and impact.

We have also introduced a new initiative called Woody Wanders; an intergenerational nature walk designed to bring communities together, explore new places, and enjoy the benefits of being outdoors. The response has been very encouraging, and we are now looking at additional locations and considering how this could become a regular Beaminster Team event.

In addition, we ran our Easter Trail event in Salway Ash. This was a self-guided walk through the Easter story. Jo and I were able to attend a couple of times, creating opportunities to connect and spend time with members of the community.

Looking ahead: As we begin to move towards summer, there are a couple of new events in the making that will offer new opportunities for our communities to come together.

I will be continuing to work with local families and will be looking at how we can begin to offer outreach to our secondary and special needs schools. We have begun welcoming people that have expressed an interest in supporting new projects, and we will move forward with the process of safely recruiting additional volunteers. As always, keep an eye on our social media pages and website for details of all upcoming events.
