Family & Community Worker Wanted

The Beaminster Area Team Ministry is recruiting to fill the post of Family and Community Worker.

We’re looking for an experienced, confident, and self-motivated person to join the Beaminster team where you’ll be responsible for the baby and toddler group, Messy Church, part of the team that work with our schools and preschools, and support and enable volunteers across the benefice.

This job is to develop the work the Beaminster Team offers for children and families in order to make Jesus known within the Beaminster Team, schools, churches and community.

In this role the post holder will sustain existing provision for children and families including, but not limited to, baby and toddler group, Messy Church, work with schools, community events and outreach. There is an expectation that new projects will also be developed.

Part of this role is to support and enable volunteers who are already engaged in working with Beaminster Team activities focused on children and families. It will also include safely recruiting, training and supporting new volunteers.

The Family and Community worker will ensure appropriate safeguarding and risk management is undertaken for all work with children and families. This is done alongside the Team Safeguarding officer and Team clergy.

The role is flexible and can be split over a number of days. It may also have different numbers of hours within term time and school holidays. There is an expectation for some work during the school holidays. There will be occasional evening meetings, possible after school activities and work on weekends including Saturday for our monthly Messy Church and Sundays as appropriate.
