March 2022 Eco Church Update

Recycling is a key part of the circular economy, helping to protect our natural resources. Each year the Seventh Resource (recyclables) saves over 700 million tonnes in co2 emissions and this is projected to increase to one billion tons by 2030.

There is no doubt recycling is on the front line in the war to save the future of our planet and humanity. Recycling is now recognized in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Global Recycling Day is on 18th March this year. That’s why we must think again about what we throw away, seeing not waste, but opportunity.

If you have something broken or damaged it’s worth taking it to The Bridport Community Shed at the Mountfield Workshop. It is made up of a group of people who come together to share skills and make and mend. Walking from Mountfield Town Council in Rax Lane towards Bedford Place, you will find the Community Shed on the right just beyond the gardens and before the bollard, on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings.

WWF Earth Hour Saturday takes place on 27th March at 8:30 pm. It is an opportunity to switch off electrical items for an hour, take time out to reflect on the wonders of nature, and how we can protect wildlife.
