Prayer activities

“I can /God can”

Find two cans or cups or empty boxes. Label one “I can” and the other “God can”. Think about things you can do and write them on a slip of paper and put it in the “I Can”. Think about what God can do and write them on a slip of paper and put it in the “God Can”. You can add things during the week. But you can also take the paper out and use them to pray. You can thank God for the things you can do. You can also ask God to help other people or you by doing the things he can!

Some ideas for your cans can be downloaded here.

Thumbs up/Thumbs down

Think about what has been good about today, thumbs up, and what has been a bit rubbish, thumbs down. Thank God for the good stuff and ask him to help you with the tough stuff. You can do this around the dinner table or whenever your family is gathered.

Using hands to pray

  • Thumb: thank God
  • 2nd Finger: pointing out into the world
  • 3rd (tallest) finger: for those in authority and leadership
  • 4th finger(ring): pray for those we love
  • Little finger: pray for ourselves
