If you are part of the Beaminster Area Team and are a PCC member or help as a volunteer in any of our team activities such as Walk in Wednesday, Bereavement Cafe, Messy Church, or Toddler Group then you must complete safeguarding training. This can be done on your own online, details below, or you can attend the next in person training at St Mary’s Beaminster.
Saturday 11th January 2025, 10am – 12 noon Basic Safeguarding
Saturday 25th January 2025, 10am -12 noon Foundation Safeguarding training.
We hope to also offer a group session for the Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse training course, at a later date.
If you have any queries about safeguarding training that you need to undertake, please speak to Barbara Simmonds, one of our team safeguarding officers. You can contact her on barbarasimmonds99@hotmail.com or leave a message for her in our Team office, with Amanda, our Team Administrator on 07396 957715
Safeguarding training for PCC members and church activities volunteers
Completion of the Basic and Foundation Safeguarding training courses is now a requirement for all members of a PCC. The highest level of training – i.e. Foundation – has to be updated every 3 years.
PCC members are also required to complete the Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse training course, but this does not have to be updated.
The courses are available online, at https://safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org
When you first visit the site, you will need to set up your profile; it is important as part of this that you record that you are part of Salisbury Diocese, and the name and location of your church, because then all your training records will be sent through to the Diocese, and recorded on the Safeguarding microsite.
When you complete a training course, you will receive a certificate by email for your own records; please keep this in case it is needed in future, and forward a copy to me. If you have any questions, or need further help, please let me know.
