“ But had no marital relations with her until she had borne a son; and he named him Jesus.” – Matthew 1:25.
Reflection
It took us a long time to get to William for our son’s name. We didn’t agree easily on boy’s names. Eric wasn’t an option, even though that was what my husband wanted. But a baby Eric? Really? Even if it was the name of the best Manchester United player of all time. But I don’t support United.
William was a compromise, a name we both liked. Marriage, parenting, taking care of each other, they all involve compromise. Joseph had to compromise too, none of this was what he planned. But Joseph was faithful to Mary and obedient to God so when her son was born, he received the name planned for him. Jesus.
Pray
Lord God, help us to trust you, to listen to you, to live our lives with you.
Act
Look for a compromise today or let someone else have their way. It isn’t always about you.
