An Advent reflection by Angie Alexander.
Zephaniah 3:19 I will deal with all your oppressors
at that time.
And I will save the lame
and gather the outcast,
and I will change their shame into praise
and renown in all the earth.
What words of hope. In times of trial and despair how comforting to read these words, for us and for those we know who are facing dark and challenging times – perhaps ‘that time’ is ‘this time’?
Father, at this time as we approach the season of celebration and goodwill, we pray that you scoop up the weak and needy, you break them free from their oppressors and bring them tidings of comfort and joy.
Covid has been a time of trial for us all. Keep in mind God’s promise to his people (us). Whatever circumstances we find ourselves in this Christmas, in Christ we have hope and that is a reason to celebrate. So let us prepare to do just that.
