Community Worker Wanted

The Beaminster Area Team Ministry is recruiting to fill the paid post of Family and Community Worker.

We’re looking for an experienced, confident, and self-motivated Christian to join the Beaminster team where you’ll be responsible for the weekly Monday baby and toddler group, monthly Saturday Messy Church, become part of the team that work with our schools and preschools, and support and enable volunteers across the benefice.

This job is to develop the work the Beaminster Team offers for children and families to make Jesus known within the Beaminster Team, schools, churches, and community.

In this role the post holder will sustain existing provision for children and families including, but not limited to, baby and toddler group, Messy Church, work with schools, community events, and outreach. There is an expectation that new projects will also be developed. We have a particular desire to develop a drop in for Year 7 in Beaminster School and then develop work with our primary school around Year 6/7 transfer.

Part of this role is to support and enable volunteers who are already engaged in working with Beaminster Team activities focused on children and families. It will also include safely recruiting, training and supporting new volunteers.

The Family and Community worker will ensure appropriate safeguarding and risk management is undertaken for all work with children and families. This is done alongside the Team Safeguarding officer and Team clergy.

The role is flexible and can be split over several days. It could also have different numbers of hours within term time and school holidays. There is an expectation for some work during the school holidays. There will be occasional evening meetings, possible after school activities and work on weekends including Saturday for our monthly Messy Church and Sundays as appropriate. However, we are hugely flexible in how you create your working week, so all ways of working can be considered.

Come and work with us – for up to 21 hours per week, £15 per hour, plus eight percent employer pension contributions, five weeks annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays.

If you are interested in applying – please contact Rev Jo Neary via email, revneary@gmail.com or phone, 07939 062409 for an informal conversation in the first instance. Applications close on Tuesday 13 October, at 12 noon.
