Reflection
The stars have provided a compass for humans for millennia, helping us place ourselves on this earth and in the seasons. Looking up to the stars never fails to remind us that there are greater things.
I like to think that the Wise Men’s arrival in the Christmas story is the moment when science and faith meet. There is no conflict at that meeting, no either – or. There is acceptance, respect, empathy and understanding – the avoidance of Herod after confirms this.
Pray
Dear God in heaven and earth, give us courage to follow your star, wisdom to recognise the gift you sent us and an open mind to be able to see your glory. Amen.
Act
Go outside on a clear December night and look up. Breathe. The longer you stand there, the more stars you are able to see. Think about the way more is revealed to us the more time and space we allow.
