those who lived in a land of deep darkness—
    on them light has shined.

Reflect

Is our country a land of deep darkness? Or is it a place where people have seen a great light? We are told there is a migrant crisis. The figures do not bare this out. Migration to the UK is at the lowest level for years, and the UK takes a very low number of dispossessed and needy compared to our continental neighbours. However a hostile environment now exists here that demonises the most vulnerable people, making it hard for them to make safe journeys, ultimately leading to treacherous crossings of the English Channel in search of peace and safety.

Jesus, once a refugee himself, tells us whatever we do for the least of us, you do to him too. Do your words, behaviour, beliefs, and political actions reflect this truth?

Pray

That we can shine a light and help those who have walked through deep darkness.

Act

No one should have to cross the English Channel in a flimsy boat to find peace and safety. But while we wait for the correct safe routes to appear why not donate to the RNLI or Refugee Action.
