Advent Reflections 2022 #15

Advent is a season for reflection and looking forward.

COP 27 was held just before Advent. One of the concerns emerging from COP is the enormous challenge some countries have in protecting themselves from the effects of climate change. The South Sea island nation of Tivalu is sinking beneath the sea as many others in that ocean are. This Advent gives us an opportunity to think of those countries and the part we play in increasing their predicament.

Transform Trade invites us to sign up to the Injustice Advent Calendar. This provides us with 24 simple ways to make the world a better place. It is free and takes less than 5 mins. to complete each day and is linked to a selection of world-changing organisations. A small step we can all take to help alleviate this catastrophe. We are a Global Family, our actions affect each other

Let us take up God’s instruction to us;

Genesis 1: 26-28 God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle and, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the  face of Earth.”  The Message

Genesis 1: 27-28a 27 So God did just that. He created humanity in His image, created them male and female.Then God blessed them and gave them this directive: “Be fruitful and multiply. Populate the earth. I make you trustees of My estate, so care for My creation, the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that roams across the earth.” The Voice

Prayer: Bring your thoughts and prayers to God for those suffering at our expense
Act: Plan one small action each day of Advent to reduce your carbon footprint.
