Advent Reflections 2022 #28

Advent is the reality that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God (and) All things came into being through him.”

For many the last twenty four days have been about getting ready, getting prepared for a visitor that comes and goes in one night, leaving behind gifts of toys, chocolates and socks. All these bring instant joy and in some cases gratification.

For those of us who have waited and watched and pondered and used this time, in the words of the Prophet Isaiah, to “Prepare the way of the Lord…” we now rejoice that “What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not overcome it.”

And so tonight, tomorrow and forever more we will rejoice that “The Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.”

Goodbye Advent – Happy Christmas to you all.
