An Advent reflection by David Campbell.
Jeremiah 33:16 In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this is the name by which it will be called: “The Lord is our righteousness.”
For centuries now the deep longing of the people of God has been encapsulated in Jeremiah’s poetic phrase, “In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety.” That deep longing can be encapsulated in another phrase – that the reign of the Prince of Peace might be fully realised and that God’s Kingdom of Light and Life might be seen to spread more rapidly on Earth. What may sometimes be forgotten, because it is challenging, is that each one of us has a significant part to play in the bringing about of such a state of affairs in our own time.
Come, Prince of Peace, and kindle in the hearts of all people a desire for peace on earth and safety for all who live this day in any kind of danger. Amen.
Do something to increase peace and security wherever you are today.
